Woodpeckers OneTIME Tool | PolyGauge SS Review

Tricky Angles

Setting specific angles can be tricky. Some sort of tool or jig is used to help assist the woodworker and then trial and error is how one would confirm their settings.  From corner cabinets, segmented turnings, and any project that uses these common angles, Woodpeckers latest OneTIME tool is a great solution for you.

The PolyGauge SS is a perfect tool to quickly set angles on your table saw miter gauge, the blade itself, jointer fence, or the miter or bevel angle on your miter saw. It is a go no-go tool that is super easy to use. Simply place the PolyGauge SS on the horizontal surface or using the dual action knob, in the vertical position. The unit will register between two surfaces and set to the exact angle you pick on the PolyGauge SS.

PolyGauge SS

No more trial and error setup procedures. With the PolyGauge SS, you simply place the unit and adjust one of your  reference surfaces to match the angle on the unit. It is that easy. The unit features a dual action knob that can place the unit in a horizontal or vertical position. With the super strong rare earth magnets, the tool is hands free in the vertical position. This is great for two reasons. First, it keeps the unit vertical and doesn’t fall over due to gravity. Second, it allows you to have both hands free for tool adjustment. This is especially important when adjusting your jointer’s fence. You always need to have one hand on the locking knob and the other on the fence itself adjusting the angle.

Segmented Turnings

We recently upgraded our turning equipment and will be producing review videos and project videos that encompass all aspects of turning. Andy Glass will learn and teach you along the way!

Segmented turning produces extremely attractive turning projects but can be tedious to setup. We had plans on making a Wedgie Sled but with the PolyGauge SS, we may rethink that. With such a simple tool to give us dead on results, why go through the extra effort in making a more complicated solution.

With the PolyGauge SS, making the segmented rings for turning is going to be very easy to setup and with the pictures on the unit, we won’t get confused!

Conclusion

Review the angles the PolyGauge SS includes and if you find yourself needing those angles at all, this tool will absolutely save you time. It is a bit pricey but it comes with the Woodpeckers’ quality and reputation you would expect.

This is a OneTIME tool so they usually only take preorders one time and then the tool is retired. If the tool has enough demand in the future, they may reproduce it. But is that a risk you are willing to take? Order yours today: http://www.woodpeck.com/polygauge-ss.html
