Tool Box With Tall Drawers and 20″ Depth | Husky 52″ Model # H52CH6TR9

Box for Power Tools

Husky offers many varieties of tool boxes, all of them are available at The Home Depot either in-store or online.  In our area, we see the black with chrome handled boxes that are considered the light-duty tool chest and cabinet.  The black with black handled tool cabinet and chest are more often found online than in the store and are considered the heavy-duty models.  The two popular heavy-duty models are the 15 drawer 52″ Husky and the 23 drawer 56″ tool chest and cabinet.  These two tool boxes are very similar in construction, but the drawer configuration is very different.

The Husky 52 inch 15 Drawer Tool Chest and Cabinet features a lot of deep drawers that will fit people with larger power tools.  The Chest and Cabinet are constructed of 19-Gauge steel and is rated for  2,500 lb. loading capacity.  Each drawer is rated to 120 lbs. each with the deep bottom drawers doubling up two 120 lb. glides giving them a 240 lb rating.  As a bonus, drawer liners are included to protect the finish and keep your tools in place. This toolbox weighs in at 418 lbs. and has six 5 in. x 2 in. casters with four having easy locking pedals to keep the unit in place.

Tool Box Organization

Each toolbox will need to be organized differently, but the amount of very deep drawers on this 52″ 15 drawer Husky made it quite a challenge to keep the more used hand tools on top of the box and the lesser used larger power tools near the bottom.  The 13″ tall bottom drawer is very deep and we did not have a tall enough tool to really use the space well.  We had high hopes of using the full-length drawer to hold all the sockets on our holders but it was not tall enough.  Our use of the drawer just above it worked but then forced us to share that drawer with our impact tools rather than some ratchets.

This toolbox would be best fit for someone who wanted to store a large quality of power tools, with few hand tools.  The drawer sizes would be perfect for many 12-volt ratchets and larger impact tools rather than wrenches and screwdrivers.  While the 56″ Husky 23 drawer tool box is more expensive, it is a better fit for anyone with more hand tools than power tools.
