Ryobi 10” Sliding Compound Miter Saw TSS102L Review

Home Depot Combo Deal

cutting foamThe Ryobi TSS102L 10” Sliding Compound Miter Saw is a great saw for the homeowner or DIYer.  This is a very capable miter saw that will serve the user well with good precise cuts.  The price, especially when on sale, is unbeatable by any other miter saw on the market.  In our review, we found the TSS102L and the folding Ryobi miter saw stand on sale at Home Depot for a price that few could turn down.  The TSS102L includes a switchable laser system that is adjustable for great cuts indoors.  We have found these laser systems to not work outdoors.  While we are old school and do not use lasers, they can be nice for cutting complex items when properly set up.

Like many of the saws on the market, the blade is the first thing that needs to be changed out to make the saw perform at its peak.  The new blade helped with the speed of cuts and, of course, the cut quality.  If this is your first saw, or an upgrade, the performance of this miter saw will serve the homeowner and DIYer well.  Contractors might get caught up with the lack of extended miter ranges on both right and left and the ability to only bevel in one direction.  That would not have much bearing on most users for this level of miter saw.

Good Saw

dust bagThe Ryobi TSS102L is a well-built saw that is extremely affordable and can help complete home improvement projects with more speed and efficiency.  Being a single bevel saw, some cuts will have to be thought out a bit more, but they are far from difficult to make.  Each miter stop position in the miter angles is precise and set up to make great cuts for trim and crown molding.  We used this saw to install foam crown molding and the cuts were excellent making the job of installing the molding easy.  The dust collection on this miter saw is above average.  Many that we test seem to have a bad that is more for looks than collecting dust.  The TSS102L had a bag that worked great for collecting the dust from all the different materials we cut.  It also worked well when the port was connected to a wet/dry vac.

Overall

If you are in the market for a very affordable saw that still has a lot of higher end features built into it, look no further.  This saw is great to work with and the slide is smooth and precise.  If this will be used inside, the dust collection and laser are a big plus on a unit of this price.  If we have not said it a hundred times, you get a lot of saw for very little money!
