Now in 3/8″

Milwaukee M18 FUEL 3/8" Mid-Torque Impact Wrench Review | 2852-22Milwaukee Tool is out to create the ultimate M18 FUEL lineup that has everything users want.  In this case, Milwaukee Took their M18 FUEL Mid-Torque 1/2″ impact wrench and made some adjustments to make it a 3/8″.  This new model new model the same 450ft-lbs of fastening torque and 600ft-lbs of nut-busting torque of the 1/2″ version.  Power to weight ratio is a big deal when it comes to a tool that many mechanics will be using all day.  Comfort, being able to fit in small areas and the ability to remove 90 percent of the fasteners on an automobile is needed.  So this adjustment to a 3/8″ anvil will allow other users who work with smaller sockets to enter into this line of impact wrenches.

Mid-Torque impact wrenches are nothing new as the demand for them has been very strong, even in pneumatics.  Milwaukee might be a bit late to the game bringing the 3/8″ to market, but they brought an excellent tool to the party.  The Milwaukee M18 mid torque impact has a 3 mode drive control along with a variable speed trigger to allow for full control over the torque applied to fasteners.  The tool is 6.7” in length and a touch over 5lbs with a 5.0Ah M18 battery.  Milwaukee also has an overmold material gives the user ultimate comfort during prolonged use while lasting longer against corrosive materials

Lugs, Suspension & Everything

Milwaukee M18 FUEL 3/8" Mid-Torque Impact Wrench Review | 2852-22Our use of the new mid-torque impact wrench has been strictly in the automotive and UTV field.  The tool is small enough for us to grab and use as our main impact wrench for light duty work like installing new rims on a UTV or rotating tires, but still strong enough to use on suspension bolts that stretch the limits of a 3/8″ drive.  This type of impact wrench is a game changer for people who use this tool all day.    With the size of this new impact wrench, there is no need for a larger impact wrench in 3/8″.  The new mid-torque will take its place and work for 90% of the fasteners in the automobile and UTV world.  Leaving the large high torque impact to only pick up the really heavy duty work.

This principle of using the smallest and lightest tool for long periods is not new as it is easier on the user as it creates less fatigue.  There is also an increase in productivity as this new impact will get in tighter areas and produce the power to remove stubborn bolts that the compact might not have.  In the mechanic’s world, time is money.  This tool will help the mechanic to finish the job faster, making more money and getting more jobs done in a single day.

Fair Warning!  This impact wrench has much more power than what is needed for most nuts and bolts that one would use a 3/8″ drive for.  Inexperience with this tool and use on high will create broken bolts.  Use the different levels and get to know the tool!
