Bosch12V Max Flexiclick 5-In-1 Drill/Driver System Review | GSR 12V-15 FC

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

Yes, we know that is a long movie quote from Alien vs. Predator but it describes many products or items in this world so perfectly. These items are ones that you may not need every single day, week, month, or even in a single year but when you do, they are essential for that task. Take a fire extinguisher, for example, it may sit on the wall in your garage or under your kitchen sink for years and never be used. But when that fire pops up and you need to act fast, you are sure glad you have a fire extinguisher handy. Another tool that comes to mind is an oscillating tool. There are many brands out there that make this tool but they are all priceless in certain situations and applications. You could be in your workshop, house, or on the job-site and have a specific task that will either require strenuous labor or simply cannot be completed without an oscillating tool. When my sister and her husband lived in Omaha, NE, we would visit multiple times a year and we would pack some of our tools with us. My sister loves putting me to work! Anyways, they needed their door jam repaired after the wind caught the door and ripped the gas piston and screws clear free of the door jam. We patched it with some Ready Patch and then sanded it with an oscillating tool. It would have required us to manual sand that elevated and hard to reach the area of the door jamb before sanding. With an oscillating tool in our kit, we put a sanding pad on it and were done within a few minutes. Bosch has introduced a tool that fits in this better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it category.

Bosch 12V Max Flexiclick 5-in-1 Drill/Driver System

The concept is very simple but so incredibly handy. Bosch has created a system that takes their 12v MAX battery and packed the business end of it with a unique ability to attach different attachments. This concept allows a user to pack one tool in their kit and have the ability to put those different attachments on them for different tasks on the job-site or on the go situations. Some of these attachments are priceless when needed. We will get to each attachment more down below.

Kit includes:

  • (1) 12V Max Drill/Driver
  • (1) Keyless Chuck Attachment
  • (1) Locking Bit Holder Attachment
  • (1) Right Angle Attachment
  • (1) Offset Angle Attachment
  • (2) 12V Max Lithium-ion Batteries
  • (1) 12V Max Fast Charger
  • (1) Carrying Bag

12V Max Drill/Driver

A solid unit packed in a tight little package is a perfect foundation for the Flexiclick system. The drill/driver utilizes Bosch’s 12V Max battery platform. It comes in at a super light weight of only 1.8 pounds but packs 265-inch pounds of torque. It has a two speed setting on the top of the unit that allows you to set the speed to the drilling or driving application. With a nice size LED light to aluminate your working area for direct work but isn’t much help with the right angle attachment. A magnetic bit holder for your basic driving needs simplifies storage. With the most important feature is the FlexiClick mounting system for the four attachments. A simple insertion and a twist will lock the attachments to the main unit.

Keyless Chuck Attachment

With a traditional 12 V drill/driver, you get a keyless chuck on the business end. Well, it should be no surprise that one of the four attachments is a keyless chuck. The main purpose of the keyless chuck attachment will be for any drill bit or driver bit that doesn’t have a hex attachment that you would typically use an impact driver.

Locking Bit Holder Attachment

Don’t be fooled by a semi-complicated name, the Locking Bit Holder Attachment allows you to insert 1/4″ hex bits and lock them in place. Exactly like an impact driver’s 1/4″ bit mechanism. These are must for high torque situations like driving larger fasteners.

Right Angle Attachment

A perfect solution for hard to reach situations where you can’t get the drill/driver in an orientation to use in the traditional alignment. The right angle attachment simply attaches to the 12V Max Drill/Driver and transfers the rotation of the unit through a 90-degree gearbox and allows the user to orient the Right Angle Attachment at any orientation. The beautiful thing about the Right Angle Attachment is you can install any of the other attachments to it.

Offset Angle Attachment

The Offset Angle Attachment is the single attachment that makes this unit a must-have. When you have the situation where you are drilling or driving next to a surface, you typically cannot get your drill/driver to complete it as the drill unit will hit the adjacent surface. With the Offset Angle Attachment, it allows the user to accomplish those tasks with ease. It offsets the output of the rotational energy the main drill/driver produces. This allows the drill bit or driver to be almost right next to an adjacent surface.

One and Done

With the FlexiClick system, a main drill/driver can now be 5 tools in one. With multiple attachments, it is a perfect tool for a contractor on the go, hobbyist that doesn’t want to have 5 different tools or someone that needs that offset angle attachment. In our opinion, that is worth the price of this entire system!

And yet, for some unfathomable reason, Bosch brings what could be a premium product to our shores with a brushed, rather than brushless, motor.
