    Privacy Fence

Iím building a side yard fence and there is pretty minimal elevation change. Probably only a ft or so throughout the whole yard. I was wondering if itís best to cut each post 6ft from the ground or should I make each fence post level with each other

I always set my posts then cut the tops level with one another by running a string line down the entire fence line. I cut them down to about a 12 inches below the top height of the fence. Then I set my top runners flush with the tops of the posts and since they are all level, the top runner is now level as well. Are you using wood post or metal?

Thank you for the response. That was very helpful and the fence you build looks very good. Iím most likely going to be using wood posts

I agree with Texan. the eye will follow the top of the fence, not the bottom.
