I have generally had good luck with buying on E-Bay. Always have to watch the shipping charges, but the products have been as advertised.

I go back and forth between eBay and Amazon. Either place I know what I'm looking for before I purchase. If its an unknown brand I research before I hit the buy button. So far I've had good luck.
    ... I didn't do it!

I've been using eBay for the last 15 years and hear people pointing more often these days pointing to Amazon.

What kind of tools do you typically buy off eBay Papadan?

Because there is no bidding or auction end times. Many of the buy it now prices were higher than the minimum bid prices. It was just a turn off. I go to Amazon with a prime membership and get the product in 2 days. The prices can be searched and you can buy from different vendors. It has become my main go to mostly because the prices are good and it is easy.

I buy almost everything from Amazon and with Prime its delivered the next day.

Never bought anything from eBay after one of my friends paid 300 for an iPhone and when delivered, it was a cheap Chinese fake. eBay weren't interested and the seller disappeared overnight.
Thankfully he paid with a credit card and his Bank refunded the 300.
If I have any problems with Amazon, they either refund the same day or send out a replacement.
My Friends call me Gary ~ wait ~ I don't have any friends.

I buy all types of tools from E-bay and Amazon. I worked 40 years as an industrial mechanic with the last 18 being specialized on over head cranes and hoists. Mostly electrical with 90% being 3 phase but plenty of gearbox building in there too. I have a miniature metal lathe that I originally got for making model train wheels then it went to work making metric bushings out of oversized standard ones. Louisville wants to be a big city, but don't expect the supply houses to be stocked with anything from the last 30 years. LOL I was state certified on scales and weighing systems also, so I might spend the morning with a 3" wrench repairing a bulldozer and in the afternoon I would be at my bench soldering transistors onto a circuit board. My work was NEVER boring, I used a 1mm screwdriver and a 48" crescent wrench in the same day many times.
