My BRODHEAD GARRETT Co. B-G 500X VISE Mounted and ready...

Wow - was I ever excited when my friend Henry gave me this beautiful Brodhead Garrett Co. Vise.

He said he acquired them some 20 years ago from a school auction. He mounted one and put this one in a corner and forgot about it..
When he asked if i could use it I told him I didn't have one yet. He Said-- Well Now You Do...

Got it mounted after reinforcing the bench with a 4x4 for the mounting area.
This is one Awesome Heavy duty Vise.. I love it...

I made a couple of new Hardwood boards for the Jaws..other than that it was in perfect condition..

    Here are a few pics..

you are so lucky, i have been trying to aquire a vise as that, but i havent came accross one under 200 dollars, sure there are cheaper ones out there, but i want one that will last me the rest of my woodworking days, which i hope are many years to come, and it be able to handle anything i put it threw... Very Nice Vise!!

Now that is a nice gift from a good friend. I have the green Marples (a smaller one) but I love it and it is handy.
Start with the basics then learn finesse.

You just can't build a cabinet without learning how to build a box first.

What a great vise to have! How big a piece of wood will it hold? I'd love to have one like it. Congrats!!!! Mike
